Special Needs & Moving On projectsThe Special Needs and Moving On Projects provide resources and support for workers at the post office whose children have disabilities. The projects are available to members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Union of Postal Communications Employees (Public Service Alliance of Canada). The Special Needs Project is geared to families with young children; the Moving On Project is for adult sons and daughters with special needs. Canada Post tells the public that it is “business as usual” and that you are not really having an impact.

Here are direct excerpts from a recent injunction application by Canada Post. This is part of CPC's legal case in Vancouver and is a matter of public record before the court.

23.       …… there were severe delays in departures all day, such that the last Mail Trucks were not able to leave the Vancouver Plant until after 4:00 pm.  This represents a delay of over 6 hours from when those trucks would typically have left the Vancouver Plant.

25.       I was informed by my staff on the morning of November 18, 2008 that Canada Post was unable to complete delivery to approximately 14, 800 residential and business customers served by the City View Depot on Monday, November 17, 2008.  Canada Post is concerned that such disruptions in service have the effect of eroding consumer confidence.

26.       In order to minimize the disruption in service as much as possible, Canada Post was forced to incur approximately 647 hours of overtime by Canada Post employees on Monday, November 17, 2008, at a cost of approximately $24,000.

28.       The inability of Canada Post to complete delivery of Mail on November 17, 2008 has been and will continue to be compounded by the continued practice of PSAC picketers …

As you can see, according to Canada Post, your strike is having an impact!

So who is Canada Post misleading now? The public? The courts? Or the strikers?

And they want you to believe that their sick leave scheme is good for you!
